These are usually fitted to combat corrosion and abrasive wear (ie. when running without air cleaners or in very fine dusty environments, competition or contaminated conditions. As these are chrome plated rings they would usually take longer to bed in- however there is a red face coating called CARGRAPH around the perifery that is said to cut down the bed in distance from 1000 mile to 5 mins riding time! It can be wiped off very easily so please be careful when cleaning off the grease preservative.
